Joe completed a foundation course in art and design followed by design and model-making at St Albans College of Higher Education
His move into wood came with a desire to create work not just for 'now' but for a lifetime. His motivation is to appreciate the refined and understood proportions of furniture from the past and interweave new details and patterns that display a more modern sense of design.
Joes designs are available in several different forms and are hand finished.
Joe succesfully combines the old with the new. He mixes the traditional pattern of the 'Chesterfield' sofa with the crisp lines of more contemporary furniture in stunning hand carved console tables and benches. The woods used on the console table are maple and walnut which are both finished with a durable lacquer. The real leather 'aran' buttons are removable so that the table can be cleaned and waxed. Also if desired they can be replaced with new loopback buttons upholstered appropriately to reflect any interior furnishing.
