Andrew Vass makes drawings on urban locations. His paintings and drawings represent a feeling of space and movement. Using charcoal he draws lines of motion and gradient.These marks make and flatten the space he sees
before him.
These drawings are developed in his paintings as Andrew explores
the space in between the charcoal drawn lines using blocks
of colour.
Colours are layered on top of one another and peep through
the surface, hinting at what lies beneath. Marks are edited
and overlaid, varying in depth and speed.
Although complicated and thought out in their construction,
the paintings have a lightness and spontaneous feel to them,
beautiful in what appears to be their simplicity.
Andrew Vass has been exhibiting for over twenty years. He
has had solo shows in London, Cambridge and Ipswich. He has
also participated in group shows nationally.
Prices for Andrew's work range from £400.00 to £5,000.00.
