Practicality and function coupled with elegance are fundamental to Rose Cobb’s designs. Rose's work responds very much to contemporary lifestyle where moving home frequently has become the norm and living space is limited.

Much of her work, while contemporary, takes its lead from the past as she mixes the old with the new, giving traditional objects a unique twist to accomodate modern day living.

Pattern is also a prevalent element in many of Rose's designs, particulary making use of existing patterns, as in Unity shade where a traditional floral chintz print has been cut-out in the shape of Moth silhouettes which show through the ceramic shade when switched on.

Rose set up her design studio in 2002 after graduating with an MA in Furniture design at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College. Her work has been shown at the V&A and the Design Museum.

Rose’s work has been published in various national and international magazines and newspapers including Blueprint, Elle Decoration, and the New York Times. Max Fraser also features her in the Second edition of Design UK.

Unity

A ceramic pendant shade bringing together the simplicity of bone china with a floral chintz pattern on the inside.  The chintz pattern is cut into moth silhouettes which show through the translucent material when the shade is illuminated.

Stitch

Designed in collaboration with Kathleen Hills.  A bone china table light. Coloured electric cable is stitched through it's body so that the cable becomes a decorative feature rather than just a functional component.
